Ann Pearce.
I have been a clerk for the past 21 years, having been appointed in 1979. Initially it was Barry, my husband, who was a councillor and this made me take an interest in the P.C. We were both involved in the Jubilee Celebrations in Donnington, with our children, Deborah and Mark, taking part in all the fun and activities that were arranged. Both children attended the Playgroup followed by Kingsham School.
We subsequently moved to Fishbourne as there were no properties on the market that were suitable in Donnington. Barry remained as a councillor until an election was held for the P.C. and, understandable with a Fishbourne address, he was not re-elected.
I have continued to take a keen interest in Donnington, retaining many of the friends that we had when living there. This makes the position of clerk more pertinent as I can refer to known residents if I have a query that I need to resolve.
The position of clerk is extremely interesting, the work load having grown considerably since first starting, with more and more consultations between Parish, District and County taking place. Sometimes the work can be frustrating when it appears that the Parish Council's views are ignored and time and effort will have gone into preparing statements, comments, and etc.
