John Ridd.

I am a West Countryman by birth, and am married with two adult sons. I live in Grosvenor Road.

After commissioning from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, I spent over thirty years in the Royal Military Police both as a Regular and, latterly, as a TA Officer. Since early retirement from the Services, I was employed in the security industry, although working for a time as an Emergency Planning Officer with WSCC and CDC.

With my interest in local affairs developing, he joined the Parish Council and I was elected Chairman in late 1997, a position I enjoy to this day and which led me to represent Donnington and Appledram as the District Councillor.

In my spare time, my wife, Ebbi, and I are keen tennis players, enjoy foreign travel as well as gardening and the local countryside.

Ably support by my colleagues on the Parish Council, I have been a keen supporter of the Millennium Map Project whilst wanting to keep pace with the present with the development of this Parish web site to encourage all residents to have a greater say in local affairs.
