In the autumn of 1999, Kim Leslie, at the suggestion of the Parish Council came to Donnington to give a talk about the Millennium maps which other villages had produced. Fired by his enthusiasm a group of interested people met, subcommittees were formed to look into different subjects, history, buildings/features, environment activities and artists.
Both the subcommittees and main groups met regularly. Before long it became clear that there was so much more history than could be used on the map so, it was agreed to produce a small book. The book - 'Donnington - A Brief History' is the result.
The book covers the Parish Church history, the Manor, local farms, the main families in the parish from 1841-1891, schooling and transportation with in area, such as the canal and the 'Selsey Tram' railway.
