Dear Sir/Madam
Request to re-locate Post Box to Stockbridge Road
As Chairman of Donnington Parish Council, I am writing on behalf of local residents to request that the Post Box, which was removed earlier this year from the then Post Office frontage at 70 Stockbridge Road to a neighbouring site, be returned for safety reasons.
Unfortunately on his retirement our local sub-postmaster, on little more than a whim, demanded the removal of the Box from his rented property prior to his own removal away from the area. Because this was on the exceedingly busy Stockbridge Road, a pedestrian crossing was approved after much campaigning years ago to enable folk from one side of the built-up area to access it in relative safety. Despite representation by ourselves the box was removed to a side street some few hundred yards away from the crossing thereby creating a very hazardous access for many people.
We ask, therefore, if the box could either be returned to its original location or to the adjacent frontage of the Country Stores which has been extensively renovated to support the proprietors application for a Post Office licence.
We look forward to your reply.
Yours sincerely
Clerk
